The Fitness Walking Guide Says...

Congratulations on starting to walk again! Your shin splints could be caused by several reasons - starting to exercise again, walking uphill, and poor fitting shoes.

There isn't one particular shoe that is good for shin splints. It's just important to have a good-fitting shoe. Have a look at my guide for finding the best walking shoes and you'll learn more about what foot type you have and if the shoes you are wearing now are a good fit for your foot type. If they are not, it is a good idea to buy a new pair of shoes.

There are other things you can do to help prevent shin splints, such as warming up and cooling down and stretching.

In addition, give yourself some rest and ice the area after a walk. A quick internet search on how to heal shin splint pain can give you more information.
