Difficult to Fit Feet

by Gayle
(Cumming, GA)

I have narrow heels, long, high arches, and slender yet wide feet. In addition, I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the right knee. Several years ago I had a bout with plantar fasciitis and later posterior tibial tendonitis, both conditions in the right foot and ankle. Those conditions are now resolved for the most part.

I do tend to pronate and wear over-the-counter Powersteps arch supports to help remedy that condition. I have been looking for quite some time for a well-made, supportive walking shoe that will fit my feet and enable me to continue my everyday activities without causing further complications. Do you have any recommendations?

Hi Gayle,

Due to your high arches, you're going to need a shoe that provides some support and cushioning as well as flexibiity. I have high arches as well and have done very well with Asics. You might try the Asics-Gel Resort or the Saucony Integrity Grid ST.

I'd definitely purchase your shoes from a store that has a good return policy so you can walk in them and return them if they cause any pain.

Good luck and happy walking!
