Best walking shoe for bad arthritis in knees

My knees are bad and I need a good walking shoe.
The Fitness Walking Guide Says...Which walking shoes are best for arthritic knees? Recent research shows that walking barefoot puts the least strain on knee joints than shoes. Of course, it’s not always practical to walk barefoot!
In a recent study entitled
Advances in Insoles and Shoes for Knee Osteoarthritis (Himan & Bennell), it was found that shoes with a flat or low heel that were flexible, not stabilizing, were most likely optimal for relieving knee pain. The authors recommend shoes that promote foot mobility. In addition, energy absorbing inserts can also help.
I would recommend a running shoe instead of a walking shoe because running shoes tend to be much more flexible than walking shoes. A couple to consider are:
Saucony Progrid Triumph 6 - Women's - Shoes - Silver
Brooks Dyad 5 - Women's - Shoes - White
Brooks Infiniti 2 - Women's - Shoes - White
I would also recommend visiting a shoe store that specializes in athletic shoes so they can help you find the best pair for your feet and recommend a good pair of energy absorbing inserts. Be sure to check the return policy. A good store will allow you to wear the shoes for at least 30 days and return them if you need to.
Best of luck to you!
