Easy Ways To Get Fit in 2014
January 07, 2014
Dear

Happy New Year! You are receiving this newsletter because you visited The Fitness Walking Guide and couldn't wait for more information about fitness walking!!

Here's to a year filled with good health and happiness. If one of your New Year's Resolutions is to exercise more, get fit and/or lose weight, I've got some great tips for you.

Fitness Tips for 2014

Try a Mini-Workout - If you're wondering how you can possibly squeeze exercise into your packed daily routine, try to add small increments of exercise throughout your day. For example, a 5 or 10-minute walk before or after breakfast, another 5 or 10-minute walk after lunch and again after dinner is just as beneficial as one 30-minute walk.

In addition, these mini-workouts boost your metabolism and helps it stay elevated throughout the day to burn even more calories, according to Michele Olson, Ph.D., professor of exercise science at Auburn University and Montgomery.

Wear a Pedometer - A pedometer is a great tool and will motivate you to get active. A recent study from Indiana University-Bloomington's School of Public Health found that women who wore an Omron pedometer (and received nutritional and exercise tips by email) spent less time sitting each day and also increased their their physical activity and lowered their body mass index.

Here are my recommendations for a good pedometer that is both accurate and affordable.

Is it time for a new pair of walking shoes? - You should replace your walking shoes every 500 miles. That's because the materials in the shoe start to break down and won't provide the cushioning and support they were built to provide.

For me, that's once a year. I can see it and feel it, too. My feet are more tired and achy after a walk and the tops of my shoes start to get holes in them.

So, if you haven't replaced your walking shoes in awhile, consider treating yourself to a new pair for the New Year. Your feet will thank you for it.

I just created my Top Rated Walking Shoes List for 2014. There are a lot of sales going on now, too, so you can find a great deal.

Until next time, thanks for visiting The-Fitness-Walking-Guide.com and happy walking!
